#EndSARS: Zulum wants IGP redeploys disbanded SARS to fight Boko Haram in Borno
The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum has advised the Federal Government to redeploy disbanded members of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) to Borno State to compliment effort of the military fighting Boko Haram.Zulum made the call today in Maiduguri when he received minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Argebesola who led a delegation to the state including his counterparts from the Police Affairs for security parley.This is coming on the day when thousands of protesters comprising of Civil Society Organizations and youths embarked on peaceful demonstrations in solidarity to SARS activities in the state.Zulum said in Borno state the SARS had made a remarkable achievements by using their energy and aggression against Boko Haram.“We are not in support of brutality by any security outfit, but to be sincere, here in Borno State the efforts of SARS operatives in the counter insurgency operations need not to be overemphasized,” Zulum stated.In his address, Aregbesola said, they were in the state on the behest of President Muhammadu Buhari to see first hand information, share the pains posed by security challenges bedeviling Borno and some parts of the North East.He equally said, the delegation are to meet with critical stakeholders including the Shehu of Borno, Dr. Abubakar Umar, Garbai Elkanemi to fine tune steps towards ending the insurgency.He commended Borno State Governor Zulum for his doggedness and commitment in restoring peace in the state.The Minister also appreciated security operatives in their unflinching support geared toward ending Boko Haram crisis and other criminal acts in the country.
