Lagos building collapse: Dead bodies of 4-year-old boy, youth corps member recovered as death toll rises

The dead bodies of a four-year-old boy and a female youth corps memberhave been recovered from the rubbles of a building that collapsed late last night in Lagos. The lady identified as Oluwakemi, was said to have been identified by her father.It was gathered that she was found with her phone in her hand.With this latest report, death toll in the collapse building has risen to 10. Twenty-four persons have so far been rescued, at the site of a building that collapsed at 24, Ibadan Street (East), Off Muritala Mohammed Way, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.National Coordinator of the  National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) in Lagos, Ibrahim Farinloye said the landlord’s son who was in the care of the collapsed building,  reported that he had given the occupants quit notice to evacuate but they refused to adhere.He revealed that he had to leave the building and rented an apartment in the same vicinity.He further stated that rental fees have not been paid for a long time.So far,  5 males and 3 females, and a child have been confirmed dead at the scene making nine deaths.”Based on reconciliation with the medical and Police, it has been confirmed that 24 people were rescued alive, 5 are still on admission while 19 had been discharged,” he explained.Meanwhile, a man identified as Mr. Segun Ogunmola has been identified as one of the victims of the collapse. The lifeless body has been reportedly deposited at the IDH mortuary.
