NECA proffers way out for Nigeria’s agricultural challenges
…holds 38th Omolayole lecture.
In a bid to proffer solution to agriculture and economic challenges in the country, the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), yesterday said it will be providing sustainable alternatives to solving the current problem of food crisis plaguing the country.
This it said, it would do at the 38th annual Omolayole Management Lecture series themed, “Sustainable Development of the Agricultural Sector for National Well-being”.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, the President and Chairman of council (NECA), Taiwo Adeniyi, said that this year’s edition sets to hold on 29 September 2022, would bring together relevant stakeholders in the organized private sector and government agencies for a policy driven discussions on critical issues.
“As we are all aware, agriculture remains a fundamental and critical sector in the development of a nation. With the recent upsurge in banditry creating impediments for farmers to harvest crops, the importance of Agriculture is further brought to the fore. Also with the Russian-Ukraine crises creating a bridge and disruption in the supply chain of critical agriculture product, the need for a sustainable national policy on agriculture has become more critical,” he said.
The Guest speaker for this year’s edition of the annual lecture is the Chief Executive Officer, Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), Muda Yusuf, supported by other dignitaries and seasoned experts from both local and international communities.
Giving details of their achievement in its 38 years, the president of AIESEC Alumni Ngeria (AAN), Olubunmi Abejirin noted that the Omolayole lecture is a platform where significant topics are discussed and solutions are explored.
She said, “It is an ideation think-tank seminar where subject matter experts come together, give opinions, solutions and recommendations, which over time led to policy formulation in the public and private sector.”
AAN in conjunction with NECA, Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management in Nigeria (CIPM) and Lagos Chambers of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) all of which Omolayole was a president in times past organizes the annual event in honour of Dr. Michael Omolayole a doyen of management, industrial and human resources in Nigeria.
