Bandits abduct travellers in Ekiti

Unidentified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted travellers between Ikere in Ekiti State and Iju in Ondo State on Saturday.

According to report gathered, the gunmen accosted the travellers from the bush along Ikere-Iju road in Ikere local government area of Ekiti State.

However it was not clear as of the time of this report the number of victims that were kidnapped.

The reports had it that about four vehicles were attacked on Saturday evening and it looks like some of them must have been kidnapped because the vehicles were empty and no one was inside.

It could be recalled that Fulani herdsmen had abducted a farmer in a retired General Army farm in Ikere Ekiti last week Wednesday.

The incident occurred at the Ajaka village farm, Oko Obe area along Ikere – Ilawe road in Ikere Ekiti.

The man name withheld was abducted around 5 p.m on Wednesday while working at the retired general army farm in Ajaka farm, Oko Obe area of Ikere.

The suspected five Fulani herdsmen was alleged to have stormed the farm belonging to the Retired General Army with guns, shooting sporadically to scare the people of the Oke Obe and whisked one of those working in the farm away.

The incident occurred barely 24 hours after a Chinese expatriate abducted at Igbemo Ekiti in Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government Area of the Ekiti State.

It can also be recalled that the Chinese expatriate was abducted last week’s Tuesday evening while the whereabouts of the foreigner is yet to be ascertained by security agencies.

The expatriate identified as one of the experts supervising the construction of Ilupeju-Ire-Igbemo-Ijan road, was said to have been waylaid at Igbemo-Ekiti while driving in a Hilux Van and whisked away to an unknown destination by arm-wielding bandits.
