I’m not running for president, says AFDBAkinwumi Adesina

President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwunmi Adesina has denied running for the office of the president of Nigeria.

There have been calls for Adesina to join the presidential race ahead of the 2023 elections.

Some groups had reportedly purchased and submitted the nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on behalf of Adesina.

However, in a statement issued today, the AfDB president said he is not running for president.

Adesina said he was very touched by all who had gone to a great extent with such huge sacrifices of their own volition, to consider him worthy to be proposed for potential consideration.

He stated that while he was deeply honoured for the incredible goodwill, his current responsibilities would not allow him to accept to be considered.
